Hello everyone!
We are Chi and Zac. Chi is a Clinical Psychologist with special interest in teaching and learning, and Zac is a university lecturer with a PhD in gamification and game design for serious purposes. Together we have been working on this project we call “Game & Learn” for over 6 months now!
Our mission statement is pretty straight forward: help kids learn through play, especially board games.
Kids by nature are highly curious and playful, so this shouldn’t be too hard right? Well we think there are a few problems: for example, it is not an easy task to capture their attention for too long; even if your kids are interested, there are over 130,000 board games to choose from. Finding a board game that is fun, engaging, and with educational value that suits your kids’ age and needs truly is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Last but not least, you also need to have the skills to extract educational values from the game.
In Game & Learn, we are going to solve these problems by letting subscribers have easier access to great board games that also have great educational values (in fact, great board games almost always have great educational values).
Game & Learn will:
1) Publish Newsletters regularly about life skills that are important but difficult to teach (e.g. communication, teamwork, negotiation, logical reasoning, abstract thinking, probability, money management, you name it)
2) Carefully review and recommend great board games that teach these important life skills
3) Provide resources (e.g. videos) that will make learning and teaching the games as easy as possible
4) Create learning materials for you, so you could teach your children important life skills during/after the game
5) Provide fun and challenging rule changes to enhance learning and replayability of the games.
Did you know that the first Saturday of June is International Board Game Day? We didn’t! And we think there is no better day to launch our first official Newsletter!

Until then, game and learn =]
